Perry is 5 months!

Perry was 5 months on Thursday! I can't believe that he is 5 months old already. He is busy trying new foods, so far peaches is his favorite. I have been making all of his baby food, which has sort of become a new hobby of mine. He is going to bed a little earlier at night, which is a big relief for Chris and I but he is still quite the catnapper during the day! He has starting getting a rash on his face, which makes us wonder if he is allergic to milk like Emerson was at his age. I cut out all dairy from to diet to see if it makes a difference for him. Hopefully that will work!

A Bushel and a Peck

I love fall and one of my favorite activities in the fall is apple picking! Today we went out to Klackle's orchard to pick some apples. It was a beautiful day and very warm apple picking weather (80 degrees!).

On the wagon, ready to head out to the orchard to pick our apples!

Emmy in her cute gymboree apple picking attire! Of course I had to buy her an apple picking outfit! There were 6 different varieties of apples and Emmy tried all by one. Kaden was a little more choosy but on the way home both of the kids said that they had tummy aches!
Next year Perry will be able to join them!

Our Little Ballerina

Emmy in her new dance attire!
She has been wearing it around the house ever since we bought it.

Emerson started her dance lessons on Tuesday. To our surprise, she was the only student in the class! She has TWO teachers just to herself! She definitely enjoyed all of the attention and had a great time learning some dance moves. Hopefully more people will join her class, so she doesn't have to do a recital all by herself!

Groovy T-Shirts

Our craft project last week was making tie-dye shirts for the family. The kids had a great time and the shirts actually turned out a lot better than I thought they would. Kaden was really into mixing the colors to make different colors. Although I wouldn't recommend doing crafts with permanent ink with a 2 year old, Emmy had fun making her shirt.
We decided to have a photo shoot to show off our shirts. I wanted to take a walk around the neighborhood afterwards in our shirts but Chris didn't think that was a good idea!

Emmy even got to have some craft time with Grandpap this weekend, painting pumpkins!

Craft time with Mommy!

Since the kids love doing crafts and so do I, I am going to try and do at least one project with them a week. I am going to post our project every week, so you can see what the kids are creating.

We started off with an easy project to make for Grandpap's birthday. We took wax paper and cut it into the shape of a circle and covered it with torn tissue paper to look like a stained glass window. We attached a string so that Grandpap could hang it. The kids had a great time, especially when I had to take a break from helping them to nurse Perry and they had free rein of the glue. Emmy used so much glue that hers is still drying and we made them on Tuesday!!
I thought that I would include this cute drawing that Kaden made at school yesterday. He is really into drawing animals and people lately.

Kaden's First Day of School

Kaden had his first day of school today. He is going to Young 5's this year at Knapp Charter Academy. Here are some picks before he was off to school!

Kaden had a great day at school! He said that he really liked his new teacher. I made these cupcakes for him for a surprise after school. But when I arrived at school another mom had made the same exact cupcakes for the entire class. Kaden didn't seem to mind too much that he got to have two special back to school cupcakes. I think that I will make this a tradition and make them every year!

4th Annual Sioux Falls Posse Round-Up

Labor Day weekend we traveled to New Buffalo, MI for our reunion. Chris and his 4 best friends from Sioux Falls live all over the US now, so 4 years ago we started getting together over labor day weekend. Over the years, we have gone to Wisconsin Dells, Union Pier, and Des Moines. We usually plan on a place closest to whoever had the most recent baby, so this year was our turn (only a 2 hour drive for us). It seems that every year there is a new baby, so our group is getting pretty large. Everyone made it to New Buffalo except for Jon and Megan because they have a brand new baby boy! We had a great time and we are already looking forward to next year!

Kaden got to stay up late and enjoy the bonfire!
