I am one proud mama!!

Kaden was awarded student of the month today at school!! Each month at his school they study a character trait. This month was fairness. We are so proud of him! He has been hoping to be student of the month all year. Unfortunately, his teacher did not tell me that he was student of the month until she wrote an email to me this afternoon, which I checked after the assembly :( I was so upset that I didn't get to be there! I felt like such a bad mom, even though it wasn't really my fault. Last month I even went to the assembly b/c Kaden thought that he "might" be student of the month. When I picked him up from school today, he didn't seem to mind. Here is a picture of him sporting his award.
After school, instead of the normal room time for him and nap time for Kaden and Emmy, we went and got ice cream to celebrate. It was probably more for me than anyone b/c I had a really long week!!

Perry is 10 months!

Perry is 10 months old today! It is hard to believe in 2 more months my baby will be one! Not much has changed in this last month. He is doing a lot better standing up and playing. He still hates being on his stomach, which makes it very difficult to learn how to crawl. He is eating a lot more finger foods but still lets me feed him too. He favorite activities are throwing things, especially from his high chair and playing peekaboo. We are still waiting for his first tooth to poke through. He has been a lot fussier lately, so it will probably be any day.

Make sure you click on the video of Perry below. He has so much fun in his jumper. I was finally able to capture it on video. Next month we will be celebrating Perry turning eleven months in Florida!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Our Valentines celebration started on Friday with Kaden's valentines party at school. The parents planned the party for Mrs. Kett since since is going to have a baby in about a month. The party went really well and the kids had a great time. Grandma offered to babysit that night so that Chris and I could go out. So Chris and I had a nice valentines dinner with just the two of us. Today after we picked up the kids we went to the corner bar in Rockford (at the request of the kids) and then went to the Sweetheart Splash. It is an annual event where some crazy people jump into the Rogue River. It was quite entertaining to watch.

My three valentines!

When we arrived home from Rockford, we sent the kids on a valentine's treasure hunt. After all of the clues, they found their gifts in their favorite hide an seek hiding spot.

We spent the rest of the day enjoying good food and watching the kids valentine's movies.

Under the Sea

Tuesday night we went to see Under the Sea 3D at the IMAX. Kaden is so into anything that has to do with the ocean, so this was right up his alley. We had a great time and it was perfect for small kids because it is only 1 hour! This was the first time that the kids have gone to a 3D movie and it was a big hit. Emmy took her glasses off about 1/2 way though because the sharks were a little scary for her. Perry did great if we kept snacks comin'. Kaden started asking right after the movie when we are going to see it again. I highly suggest this for any young family.

95 years from now

Kaden celebrated his 100th day of school on Monday. All of the kids dressed up to look like they were 100 years old. Kaden got really into it and we spent part of Sunday searching Goodwill and the dollar store for anything that would make him look like an old man. Perry, Emmy, and I went to school for the last hour to celebrate the 100th day of school with Kaden. The had a special visit from Zero the Hero (Kaden's principal) and made necklaces with 100 fruit loops (after sorting them into groups of 10). It was a fun day!

All About My Dad

Last week at church the kids each filled out a page about their Dad. They must have done it together since both of their answers were exactly the same for every question. My favorite answer was to the last question, especially since they were doing this in Sunday school!

Kaden continued to grow up too much this week! On Thursday, he told me that he did have a girlfriend named Gabby but they are not boyfriend and girlfriend anymore. He said that she can't be his girlfriend because Gabby's mom said that they have to wait till they are 16. I think that she is a smart lady!

I am not ready!

Yesterday when I brought Kaden to school, I got out of the car to wait with him till his teacher came to get his class. After we get out and I walked him up to his line he says, "Mom, I don't want you to wait with me, you can go now." A little shocked, I said "Alright, have a nice day." and I gave him a kiss and started walking away. As I walked back to my car, I heard all of his friends laughing because I gave him a kiss on front of everyone. He is only 5!! I am not ready for my little boy to grow up. Although I would love to keep him a little boy, it is so amazing to see him growing up. He just loves school and learning and it such a sweet kid. So hopefully those boys don't rub off on him and I can still give him kisses when I drop him off!

Music City, USA

Last Thursday I tagged along with Chris on a business trip to Nashville. He has gone there so many times this past year and has asked me to come along but it never really worked out. So, it finally worked for Grandma to take the kids and for me to come along. We had a really great time!! Chris spent his days working and I spent my days sleeping, watching movies, reading, working out, at Starbucks, and lounging in the hot tub. It might sound boring to you but it was heaven to me! After spending day after day busy with 3 kids, it was nice to just relax and do nothing. After Chris was done working we spent our nights going out to dinner and exploring all of the country music that Nashville has to offer. We had a great time and we very thankful that Grandma could give us a break and take great care of the kids.

This is one of the only pictures that I took (I just don't take as many pictures when I am not with the kids). Chris was singing a little Johnny Cash at a karaoke bar that we went to with another couple that we had met down there.
