Perry is 9 months!

Perry turned 9 months old yesterday! You can tell from this picture that he has gained some weight. He had his check-up this afternoon and he weighed 19 pounds and 9 ounces! He weighed only 14 pounds 5 ounces at his sixth month appointment and went from the 3rd percentile to the 30th percentile. He was 28 1/2 inches which is in the 70th percentile and his head was in the 80th percentile. The doctor said that he looks great and that he has 2 bottom teeth that should poke through soon, which would explain the endless drooling.

Perry is still not crawling. He absolutely hates tummy time, which is why I haven't been that good about doing it. I have started to make him do "tummy time" a lot more lately and even though he yells the entire time, he is starting to get his tummy up off the ground and scoots backwards a little. He is pretty good at standing and hanging onto furniture and that seems like all he wants to do lately.

Perry's favorite time of the day is bath time! He could stay in there all day long. He doesn't even need any toys, he just loves splashing in the water.

Perry at 9 months is a pretty happy baby. He talks all of the time! He is making tons of sounds, except for mama (which took a long time for all of my kids to get) and doing about 3 signs. He also waves and claps his hands. He likes just about every food you give him, except for carrots and peas. He is always really enjoying having more finger foods and being able to feed himself. The only difficult thing about Perry's age is he is going through MAJOR separation anxiety. Every time we drop him off at the church nursery, he starts crying uncontrollably. I actually quit my MOPS group because Perry was crying so much in the nursery that they always ended up bringing him back to me. The only person that he will go to without crying is Grandma (thankfully because I need a break every once in awhile).

Can Barack Obama come to my house and play?

Ever since Barack Obama announced that he was running for President, my kids have been obsessed with him. Chris and I don't really talk about politics much, so I am not exactly sure where they got their enthusiasm for him. Both Emmy and Kaden run around the house saying and singing his name all of the time. After our play date this morning and Kaden went to school, Emmy and I sat down and watched the inauguration. After watching for awhile, Emmy asked me if Barack Obama could come over to our house and play with her! Emmy has a history of having "friends" that she sees on TV. If you ask her, one of her best friends is "Smucker" the little boy from the Smuckers jelly commercials. Every time she sees the commercial, she says, "Smucker is my friend." She has asked on many occasions if "Smucker" could come over and play with her.

Baby, it's cold outside!

Sorry for the lack of posts the last week but there just hasn't been a lot going on around here. It is freezing outside, so we have just been hibernating and trying to find fun things to do indoors. The windchill was -13 degrees this morning, so no playing outside in the snow for us (which I am not really complaining about ). This morning I had planned a couple of fun winter crafts for us to do before Kaden went to school. My plan got sidetracked though when there was a pretty bad accident right in front of our house. The kids spent the next hour and a half watching the ambulance, fire truck, tow trucks, and police cars. Luckily, it looked like everyone was going to be okay!

The kids kept running back and forth between the living room and dining room to see which had the better view.
We were finally able to get to our crafts! We made melted snowmen. The kids put lots of glue (what kid doesn't love playing with glue) on wax paper and added eyes, nose, arms, scarf, and buttons.

Emmy's finished snowman. That cheesy smile is all I can get out of her lately for the camera. We are still waiting for the snowmen to dry so that we can play with them. We also made snowflakes out of coffee filters and painted them with water colors.

Perry is still not crawling! Here is a picture of me attempting to make him get his toys. He just decided that he would rather put his head down and relax then try to get them himself. He is not a big fan of being on his tummy. He loves sitting up and playing and having his brother or sister bring him whatever toys he wants.

Back to Reality

Well, Chris went back to work today after having two weeks off. Usually I am ready for things to go back to normal and for Chris to get back to work and Kaden back to school but it was so nice to have everyone home over break. We didn't do a lot just had some good family time and hung out. Perry decided to become a marathon sleeper over break. He usually sleeps from 7:15 at night till 9 am and then takes 2 two hour naps during the day. It was so nice to just let him make his own schedule for once and not have to worry about having to wake the little guy up. He also discovered his voice. He yells alot!! Not because he is mad but because he wants to hear himself. He also started saying "da da", clapping, signing "more", and "all done" all over Christmas break.

Here is a pic from Perry's first bath with his big bro and sister. He loved it!

Over break, we made some updates to the playroom. Here is how it turned out.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope that all of you had a great new year's eve celebration. We had a quiet one at home. We have made it a tradition to cook a nice dinner and stay home. Here are some highlights of our night!
